How they differ
Robinhood
- Stock Tokens live on Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum layer 2 built on Arbitrum that went live on July 1, 2026.
- Issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) as debt securities that track the stock. Holders get the price exposure, not shareholder rights.
- Not offered in the US or to US persons. Eligible users in more than 120 countries reach them through Robinhood Wallet.
- Trade around the clock onchain through Uniswap, Lighter, 1inch and others.
xStocks
- Issued by Backed, which Kraken moved to acquire in early 2026. Each token is backed one to one by the real share, held by a licensed custodian.
- On Solana, Ethereum and TON.
- Most of the trading happens on exchanges like Kraken: of $25 billion traded by February, about $3.5 billion was onchain. This page only sees the onchain part.
Backpack
- Backpack Securities is a US regulated brokerage that holds the real shares, launched in June 2026. Sunrise turns them into tokens on Solana.
- Tokens can be returned to Backpack for the underlying shares, which can then move to another brokerage.
- Listed SpaceX as SPCX on Solana the day the stock began trading on Nasdaq, June 12, 2026.
Ondo Global Markets is the largest issuer by assets, over $1 billion in May, but little of its trading shows up in the onchain pools this page measures, so it isn't on the board.
